Nitenpyram is used for the control of the fleas on dogs and cats. It kills adult fleas. You may also need to control the larval stages of fleas in the environment. Your veterinarian will give you advice on a suitable product.

How does this medicine work?

Nitenpyram interferes with receptors in the nervous system of lice and fleas, which leads to their subsequent paralysis and death.

How do I give this medication?

- This medication is given by mouth, either directly or with a small amount of food.

- Give this medication to your pet as directed by your veterinarian. 

- READ THE LABEL CAREFULLY.

- DO NOT give more medication than directed and DO NOT give more often than directed.

- Tell your veterinarian if you have more than one animal in the household

What if I miss giving a dose?

Give the dose as soon as possible. Do not give two doses at once. Do not give more than one treatment per day.

How do I store this medicine?

- Keep this medicine out of reach and sight of children.

- Store this medicine in a cool, dry place at room temperature. Store away from heat and direct sunlight.

Potential side effects

- Your pet may scratch more than normal for about an hour after the medication was given.

- Other side effects may occur. If you notice anything unusual, contact your veterinarian.

Possible drug interactions

- Make sure to tell your veterinarian what other medication you are giving to your pet.

- Quite often your veterinarianmay prescribe two different medications, even if a drug interaction may occur. In this case, your veterinarian may vary the dose and/or monitor your pet more closely.

- Contact your veterinarian if your pet experiences any unusual reactions when different medications are given together.
